The use of remote sensing methods for mineral exploration is one of the important areas in modern geology.
Remote sensing refers in a broad sense to the study of the Earth's surface at a considerable distance using surveys from aviation and space carriers for the purpose of studying and thematic mapping of the objects under study. Among the various aspects of remote sensing, aerial and space photography of the Earth in geological research is of particular relevance.

About the project
Phoenix Mining LLP, together with the Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System, is conducting a corporate acceleration program, within which a startup or company can participate.
Phoenix Mining LLP has subsoil use rights under six licenses for exploration of solid minerals in the Kostanay and Aktobe regions. The company's activities are aimed at the study, exploration and production of rare earth elements.
The company has a number of promising mineral extraction facilities located in the Kostanay and Aktobe regions. The company's goals are highlighted by comprehensive data sets that have been created over several years and the company has a team that has over 10 years of industry experience.

What needs to be done as part of the project?
Create a system for processing remote sensing data, including satellite images, for further determination of mineral resource locations
The system must solve the following tasks
Development of a remote sensing database, including satellite images with the potential occurrence of useful deposits for selected periods of time and linked to geological coordinates.
Development of an algorithm for analyzing remote sensing data, including satellite images, to determine the location of mineral deposits
Development of a data analysis algorithm to search for and exclude short-term changes (anthropogenic changes, animal activity, climate change, geophysical changes, etc.).
Development of a web interface for searching and accessing data.

Companies implementing innovative projects in Kazakhstan and abroad
The winner of the program will receive
opportunity to become a partner of Phoenix Mining LLP
mentoring support for piloting and implementing the product, including from experienced specialists at the company site
opportunity to receive a grant for prototyping
with the successful implementation of a technological solution into processes, there is the possibility of joint scaling of the solution not only within the country, but also beyond its borders
