the Memorandum of Understanding between Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System (NURIS) and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC)
On February 22 the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System (NURIS) and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) in the area of technology commercialization was held at Nazarbayev University.
The ceremony was attended by General Director of NURIS - Aidar Zhakupov and CEO of MTDC - Dato Norhalim Yunus.Welcoming speech were made by the Malaysian Ambassador in Kazakhstan - Dato Hidayat Abdul Hamid, Nazarbayev University Provost- Anne Lonsdale and Director of MTDC - Mohammed Hazani Hj. Hassan.
The development of Nazarbayev University Intellectual Innovative Cluster is one of the priority tasks for NURIS. In this regard, MTDC is considering as one of the most promising partners in the exchange of knowledge and competencies in the field of technology transfer, commercialization and entrepreneurship, as well as support for startups and their promotion to the markets of Malaysia and Kazakhstan. Another important area of joint activities will be the establishment of cooperation between companies and business associations of Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
After signing the MoU, 4-day workshop has started which was attended by scientists, entrepreneurs and experts in the area of technology commercialization from the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, AEO “Nazarbayev University” and JSC "National Agency for Technological Development".
“We hope that this workshop will be a great opportunity for all of us to share knowledge and exchange experiences in the field of technology commercialization and ecosystem development. We also hope that this workshop will be a good start for further cooperation within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between NURIS and MTDC, which is expected to be signed today”, - said Aidar Zhakupov in his speech.
